Picture Time

We paid this guy to peddle us around Georgetown, Penang. Do you see how small he is?

What I really thought about the 'Fish Massage'

Malaysian Adventures

I know. I know. I'm not a very good blogger. It has been a while, and I know that we've been back a week and still no pictures. But here we go! We took a lot of pictures, so I'm only going to put the best on here. The rest will be as a link to the side. I'll pretty much just let the pictures talk for themselves though.

But for those that I haven't talked to recently, Malaysia was amazing. We traveled with our friend Wendy and had a blast. I'm a fan of lists, so I'll create a short one for you about our highlights on our trip:
  1. Food: Malaysia has the best food I've eaten since August. I would venture to say that it has the best food that I've eaten since my last Food and Wine fest. The best of Chinese, Malay and Indian. It was mouth watering, delicious food, and I miss it a little too much.
  2. People: The people for the most part were very helpful. We even met up with a friend of a friend named Alwin who took us around Kuala Lumpur. How cool is that...people really do help out and show you around when you ask!
  3. Fish Massage: In KL, we splurged and got a "Fish Foot Massage". Two out of three loved it, so I guess overall it was a cool experience. I was the 1/3 that didn't love it. The fish biting your feet, well it wasn't fun for me. I'll let the pictures tell the rest.
  4. Monkeys: Okay so there are a lot of monkeys in Malaysia. The small ones chase you and grab water bottles and take good pictures. The big ones (Orang utans) are pretty big and pretty awe inspiring.
  5. Rain: We had big plans for Borneo; hiking, wild life tours; real jungle treks. But Borneo had other plans: Rain. So what did we do instead? We shopped, ate, got tattoos. Ed and I got traditional style tattoos (hand tapping). Wendy couldn't decide on what to get and where, so no tattoo this trip for her. If you ever are in Borneo, let me know, I've got a great artist!
  6. Beaches: While we didn't get to spend a whole lot of time on the beach, we did go. And we did get a bit of a tan. Think the movie "The Beach" with Leo DiCaprio. While it wasn't 'that' beach, it seemed pretty close!
  7. Food: Did I mention how amazing the food was?
  8. Sheraton Resorts: Ahhh free points= free hotel rooms. The one we stayed at in Kuala Lumpur was rated a 2 star, but it was the fanciest hotel I have ever seen (almost). We even had a view of the Petronas Towers! The hotel in Langkawi gave us free drinks. So by that measure, it was pretty damn cool.
  9. Views: The scenery of Malaysia was amazing. This is including the nature views and the man made views. Bahtu Caves, Petronas Towers, Chinese Temples, Mangroves, and beaches. All completely lovely and I felt like I was in paradise, the whole time!
  10. Shopping: Anything you wanted, knock offs and designer. Cheap. Or at least cheap once I figured out that I could bargain. In reality, I didn't really bargain really well. I had to leave that to Wendy and Ed. So it was cheap for everyone else. I was a sucker.

Okay so there is my top ten list. Of course read/look above for the pictures!!

PS: Happy Birthday Poppop!

We're Back!

We're Back in Yeosu...

Everything was absolutely wonderful! We have about 600 pictures to go through and edit, so as soon as that is done, I'll start writing.

I also understand that Ed's video is still not working. I'll get on that as well!

Hope you all are staying warm where ever you are!!

Salam Datang from Bornieo!!

Hey All,

Just wanted to give you an update as to our travels. I'm up early (due to a miss-firing alarm clock) so I actually have some time to write. No pictures though--as I don't have the camera adapter with me!

All is going well here in Malaysia. Ed, Wendy (our friend that we are traveling with), and I are enjoying the food the most. It is a mix between Chinese, Thai, and Malay that is just so wonderful, especially different from Korean food! No Kimchi here!!

So far we've spent 2 days in Kuala Lumpur and now we are in Kutching, Boreno. It's rainy season here, so it is appropriately raining.

So far we have seen:

1.Petronas Towers--they are so much covered in steal that they don't even look real, especially at night)

2. Batu Caves--Very cool caves...and Hindu temple. The monkeys on the other hand were a bit scary. I'll admit, monkeys might be on my list of things that I'm scared of now.

3. Went into a Muslim mosque---we all had to wear purple robes because we weren't covered up enough...wait until you see the pictures

4. Visited a couple of neat museums, including one on Islamic art. That one was pretty amazing!

5. Flown a lot!

We've done some other things as well...but I'll write about that later. I just wanted to give you guys a quick update.

All is well and we are doing just fine. No incidents other than maybe paying too much for some things (Wendy is dissapointed in our bargining skills...so now we just tell her what we like and she gets it (bargins) for us)!!!

I will write more when I find time...Miss you and love you all!!

Video Problem...fixed?

Okay, so I hope that I fixed the video problem. Thanks Dad for letting me know there was one. If you all still have problems watching it, let me know!
